Digital books
In years past, digital books were defined as books that were scanned into a computer so you could read the book from the computer screen or a digital reader device. As with everything in technology, that has changed. Audio books have now emerged to the forefront of technology and are also considered digital books. In fact, they may become the defacto standard for what is considered digital books. Digital books are fast becoming popular as our society becomes more and more mobile. Why digital books? At audiobookcottage.com we believe everyone can benefit from digital books because they bring literature to a new generation and foster a love for learning. Now this might shake people who love tradition and comfort. Is nothing sacred? No, not even books, because making literature available to people in all forms is truly a gift. Giving the ability to listen to books to people who are otherwise unable or unwilling to read is priceless. A true book worm loves reading for the sheer joy of reading and doesn’t mind how it happens as long as it happens. Isn’t it remarkable that more people are delving into literature through the different forms of media? Whatever it takes for people to be turned onto the written word is worth it.
Digital books, or audio books, are becoming an excellent tool to use in the school system. More and more we are seeing children who get into high school without solid reading skills. Digital books will enable them to fully understand their lessons and have the potential to become a high achieving student. Digital books are a great way to get non-readers involved in reading and help nurture a love for literature. Many people never developed a love for reading in school. It might be because they didn’t like their reading teacher, received a less than stellar education, or they have a slight reading disability, but whatever the cause, we believe audio books to be the solution!
Digital books may also be a way to help those who didn’t grow up in the “computer generation” to start feeling comfortable with technology. First an audio book, then their favorite music on an iPod, then they are sending and receiving email! All of this leads to not only enjoying books, but enjoying the fast pace of today’s life.
The old saying, “Don’t mess with a good thing” doesn’t apply here. Books keep on getting better and better and all people deserve to be able to enjoy them. |
